On Saturday the participants of Rally Mexico overcame the equator of the race and came close to event’s crucial part. The crew of Eurolamp WRT is preparing to the final trial, occupying 10th row of the race intermediate classification.
It must be admitted that Valery Gorban and Vladimir Korsia have made their way to top-10 also due to rivals’ «helping». On SS11 Nicolas Fuchs stopped because of breaking gearbox shifter. On SS12 Eric Camilli went out of the track, and the car of Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari lost a front wheel. On SS15 Andreas Mikkelsen crashed and Hubert Ptaszek’s car became rear wheel drive one.
Meanwhile the crew of Eurolamp WRT showed stability and stage by stage finished nearly top-10. Moreover they were 10th at three special stages, and at the one of them they renewed their personal WRC record and took 9th place on SS19.
It should be noted that the duo of Eurolamp WRT felt how wounding and difficult was the route of Mexican race. During the first half of the day two rear rods had been bent, and from time to time the car lost brakes. Moreover, loosing time due to this matters was not a sole problem. The crew repaired the car themselves and hadn’t done it in time, so they had been fined 10 seconds because of 1 minute later start of SS13. After that, at second half of the day, on 40-km special stage (SS15, Otates), there were problems with brakes overheating. So Valery Gorban and Vladimir Korsia’s way to top-10 was not easy.
«In generally, we are satisfied with the current of the race. We are learning the car better and better and trying to increase our pace. And now our goal is to hold the top-10 position. But this is not an easy goal because we have Andreas Mikkelsen on our back. He dropped behind in 4 minutes, but it is not enough advantage before 80-km SS Guanajuato, that we will have on Sunday morning», — said Vladimir Korsia.
On Sunday morning the participants of Rally Mexico will have two special stages. And the one of them is the Guanajuato. Beyond all doubt it will be the key moment of the race, especially for the crew of Eurolamp WRT.
